Recently Clive Chapman and Hazel Chapman were trawling through a box of assorted old photographs and stumbled across perhaps the first ever full-size wind tunnel test. The type 29 was the first Lotus Indy car; the photos show that the anticipated high speeds on the Indy oval gave cause for careful thought about the windscreen design. Evidently this led to what was perhaps the first-ever full-size windtunnel test.
Four Classic Team Lotus customers made the significant effort to take advantage of the first ever opportunity to race their historic Lotus F1 cars at the great Suzuka circuit, home of the Japanese F1 GP since 1987 (bar two years at Fuji). All four did well, with the crowning glory being a one-two finish in Sunday’s race for Greg Thornton and local hero Katsu Kubota, in their 1982 De Angelis and Mansell Lotus type 91s.

Goodwood was a great weekend for the Jim Clark trust as the official charity, with an exhibition, memorabilia, merchandise and launching the Jim Clark Special Edition Evora competition. The Trustees welcomed Sir Jackie Stewart, the Duke of Richmond and Group Lotus CEO Feng Qingfeng to the impressive stand – together with Bob Dance and Andy Middlehurst - on Saturday morning.
Codemasters® has today released a new video for F1 2018, the official videogame of the 2018 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, revealing the roster of classic cars that will feature in the forthcoming game. A new class of six iconic cars from the 1970s and the 1980s joins the already announced 2009 Brawn and 2003 Williams, as well as all of the returning classic cars from last year’s game, to take the total number of historic cars to twenty.
