CTL at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed
CTL were at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July to help celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Lotus in style. The impressive line up of Lotus F1 cars in the paddock (Types 18, 21, 25, 33, 49, 72, 79 and 99T) represented the majority of the 79 Grand Prix races won by Lotus. John Bowers kindy sent 25/R4 along for the weekend, although it and the 99T were display only on this occasion. Clive Chapman was on hand to drive 79/3 on both Thursday and Friday.
Friday started off dry and the three cars we were running on track all managed to get a run up the hill in good conditions. Tiefion in 18/921 was followed by Dan in 21/933 and Clive in 79/3.
After lunch the weather went downhill (sorry, no pun intended) and out came the wet weather gear. The customary 'Team' shot (missing Tiefion, sorry!) saw Clive, Dan and Taja with Tom, Chris, Uncle Henry and Nick all trying to stay dry.
As well as having probably the biggest manufacturer stand ever seen at the Goodwood FoS, Lotus Cars had Gavan Kershaw on hand to drive the Evija which, with around 2000PS on tap, one would imagine would be a handful in the wet.
With Saturday running being cancelled due to the inclement weather and Clive at another event, Chris Dinnage was on hand to drive 79/3 on Sunday which turned out to be a glorious day.
