Winning Weekend for Classic Team Lotus
Whilst Tennis and Cricket reached fantastic heights of excitement, Classic Team Lotus enjoyed its own ‘Wonder Weekend’ of sport, with success at the British Grand Prix and the Sommet Des Legendes at Mont Tremblant, Canada.
As he could not be in two places at once, Andrew Beaumont arranged for Indy racing pro James Davison to race his type 81 in the British GP Masters F1support race. Despite never having driven at Silverstone, Australian James put 81/2 on pole position, at the front of a competitive 23 car grid. He led the way in race 1, only to suffer a rare input shaft failure. Mechanics Kevin Smith and Lewis Cullington managed a wonderful job to have the car ready for race 2. Starting 17th, James put in an astounding drive to victory.
Thank you for all the effort James! Both in the race and with the ESSEX themed Overalls!
Meanwhile, in Canada, Andrew Beaumont was racing his type 76 to the finish in both Historic F1 races, with a best placed finish fifth. Team mate Greg Thornton did even better, winning both races in his type 91.
