Greg Thornton wins consecutive Historic Formula One Championships

Greg Thornton has dominated the consecutive Monterey race weekends at the famous Laguna Seca racetrack, near San Francisco, CA.  Racing his Classic Team Lotus prepared Lotus type 91 – prepared and attended by Ted Fiddy and Chris Dinnage – Greg took on the challenge of four races over four days, complete with engine change in the middle.    

Greg scored an impressive three wins and a podium.  The beautiful Black & Gold type 91 is perfectly suited to the twisting Laguna circuit – complete with the famous Corkscrew section.

Such a large points haul means that Greg has won the Masters Historic Formula One USA Championship, with the season ending US Grand Prix support races yet to come.

Previously Greg has been the Masters FIA Historic Formula One Europe Champion in 2013 and 2018.  An outstanding achievement by Greg, Ted, Chris and Classic Team Lotus.
