Classic Team Lotus Canada clean sweep
Classic Team Lotus Canada clean sweep
19th June 2017
Classic Team Lotus drivers continued to dominate the Historic F1 visit to Canada, with Greg Thornton winning both races at the historic Mosport Park circuit, having started from pole in his type 91. Team Lotus last raced at Mosport in 1977, when Mario Andretti – starting from pole – set fastest lap but could finish only 9th, in 78/3, the sister car to Katsu Kubota’s 78.
Katsu made it two more 1-2 finishes and team mate Andrew Beaumont finished both races. Therefore the Classic Team Lotus prepared cars finished all four of the Canadian races and won all of them too. Not bad! A big well done to the CTL mechanics – Kevin Smith, Tim Gardner and Kevin Fiddy – the Team Manager – Chris Dinnage – and, most importantly, of course, the drivers.
