Ayrton Senna Tribute

A break in the qualifying sessions on Saturday at the Monaco Historique saw a tribute parade to Ayrton Senna, who passed away 30 years ago. Five iconic cars and Ayrton's Go-Kart were scheduled to complete 3-laps of the Principality with celebrity drivers that included Bruno Senna behind the wheel.

Clive was pleased to welcome Ayrton's good friend Thierry Boutsen to drive Type 97T chassis 2 – Ayrton’s Estoril winner – in an emotional tribute to all those who helped created the Senna/Lotus legacy.

Ayrton’s first GP win – which he always considered to be his greatest ever race – in the iconic black & gold Lotus F1 is a shining example of the Team Lotus legacy and the sight and sound of the Renault-Turbo powered Type 97T was hugely popular with the knowledgeable Monaco crowd. Chris Dinnage who managed a rebuild of the car earlier this year was there to fire up and watch over the car which ran faultlessly. Huge thanks also must go to both Alan Nobbs and of course to Renault Alpine Racing for all their efforts on the engine rebuild.
