Emerson and 72/7 star at the Assen TABAC Classic Grand Prix
The third edition of the TABAC Classic GP held over the weekend of 14-15 September at the Assen Circuit in the Netherlands was a huge success. The program featured 21 car and motorcycle races, various stunning demonstrations and a paddock filled with historic race cars. The undoubted stars of the show however, were Emerson Fittipaldi and 72/7.
Highlight of the event for the crowd was the appearance of former world champion Emerson Fittipaldi.
The Brazilian Formula 1 legend got behind the wheel of the iconic black and gold Lotus Type 72, chassis 72/7, the very car with which he won his first F1 world title in 1972.
Watching the magical F1 Type 72 with Fittipaldi behind the wheel, gave the audience goosebumps, as many flocked to witness this unique spectacle. Chris Dinnage was on hand to make sure 72/2 ran smoothly, which of course she did.
It was the first time the motorsport legend had visited Assen, and crowds witnessed him lapping alongside his son, Emerson Fittipaldi Jr. (above), in the Eurocup3 car from MP Motorsport (below).
