Team Lotus Type 29

A development of the Type 25, for Team Lotus to compete at Indianapolis. Longer and wider monocoque,for the bigger engine and more fuel capacity. Bigger and beefier all round, to cope with the increased horsepower, weight and cornering loads (due to the banking). Asymmetric (off-set) suspension for left hand cornered circuit.

The 1980 Lotus type 81 chassis 5, commissioned by Classic Team Lotus during lockdown, has proved to be reliable and fast; not bad characteristics for an F1 car.

In 1980 Team Lotus began construction of a Lotus type 81, as raced by Mario Andretti, Elio De Angelis and Nigel Mansell. In 2020 Classic Team Lotus completed the task.
